Decisions of the Negeri Sembilan State Executive Council Meeting No. 6 of 2026 (15 September 2026)
The Negeri Sembilan State Executive Council met on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, chaired by the Honourable Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Dato’ Ismail bin Lassim.
The Menteri Besar’s earlier media statement explained the functions and roles of the Menteri Besar, the State Government, the Institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar, the Undang Yang Empat (the four Undangs) and the Constitution of the State of Negeri Sembilan 1959.
We wish to announce that the Negeri Sembilan State Executive Council yesterday reached the following collective decisions:
The proclamation deposing His Majesty Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir under Article 10 of UUTKNS 1959, dated 19 April 2026, was signed and sealed by the lawful and serving Undangs of the Luak. It is the absolute prerogative of the Undang Yang Empat to elect and depose the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan. This prerogative is guaranteed by Articles 32 and 79 of UUTKNS 1959 and Articles 71 and 181 of the Federal Constitution. The proclamation was also signed by the Honourable Menteri Besar Dato’ Ismail bin Lasim on 3 August 2026, which makes the proclamation complete under Article 10(2) of UUTKNS 1959.
The proclamation electing His Majesty Tuanku Nadzaruddin ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar under Article 11 of UUTKNS 1959, dated 19 April 2026, was also signed and sealed by the lawful and serving Undangs of the Luak. The proclamation is therefore in order and complete under UUTKNS 1959.
The meeting upholds the resolutions made by the Undang Yang Empat and respects their prerogative powers as enshrined in Adat and UUTKNS 1959. Accordingly, to give effect to the sabda (royal pronouncement) and resolutions of the Undang Yang Empat under the Article 10 and Article 11 proclamations of 19 April 2026, it is hereby officially announced that:
His Majesty Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir has been deposed from the throne of Negeri Sembilan by the Undang Yang Empat; and
His Majesty Tuanku Nadzaruddin ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar has been elected and recognised as the new Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, with immediate effect.
The State Government Administration shall take immediate steps to implement this announcement, in compliance with the sabda and resolutions of the Undang Yang Empat.
